Continuing to create Vitamix weight loss recipes…

This is a nice breakfast smoothie that is healthy and will keep you full for awhile. It has fiber, protein and all natural sweeteners. I am storing this one under vitamix weight loss recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup steel cut oatmeal
  • 3 bananas
  • .5 – 1 tablespoon of all natural honey

The honey I used came from Blue Hill Stone Barns (love that place). The ingredient list is AWESOME.

You know the drill. Start blending at low, slowly increase to high and blend for a minute or more, or until the oats are pulverized nicely.

This makes 2 pints of breakfast smoothie. I store the drink in mason jars to keep it fresh for 48 hours.

    i am wondering how much is a serving in the banana oat n honey recipe. i’m eager to make, i need to lose weight and so many recipes do not say what a serving is, any help for me. thank you n Merry Christmas!

      I’d say 12-16 ounces would probably be a good serving. Generally, I sip slowly and let my body tell me when I am full. When I am close to being full, I slam a glass of water and that will usually do the trick. Drinking a lot of water is key.

    I just got a brandnew Vitamix and can’t wait to explore all its powers. Needless to say, I also need to lose some weight and am looking for recipes that do not contain as much sugar as all the fruit smoothies. And I love spinach! Question for you today: for the recipe with the steelcut oats, do you add the oats straight from the container, uncooked and hard, or do you cook the oats first? Thanks for a response!

      Hey – I add them straight from the box – I do not cook them first. If you let the vitamix run enough, the mixture becomes nice and smooth. Good luck!

    Hey! I have had a Vitamix for about 3 months. Begining a weight loss regimen because I too am sick of my gut. Does that say 1/10 of a tablespoon of honey??? Just checking my eyesight :/ Thanx

      you can use regular oats as well. They will even blend better. You might lose some of the “nutty” flavor but it will still be good.
