The goal: Green smoothie weight loss. Find delicious ingredients at the farmers market.
The Irvington Farmer’s market opened up yesterday. I was running out of ingredients for my vitamix smoothies; this was the perfect opportunity to support local farmers and restock on essentials that I need for the next few days. Green smoothie weight loss doesn’t have to be a chore.
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 2 cups water
- 1 Roma Apple
- 4 Strawberries
- 8 grapes (seeded, throw em’ in whole!)
- 1 stick celery
- 1 medium sized beet (peeled)
- All green leaves from the beet
- 3 handfuls of raw spinach
Add the water and pineapple juice to the blender. After that, add the strawberries, grapes, apple, beet. celery, spinach and beet leaves. This will probably fill most of the blender. Start on a low speed, slowly increasing to high. Blend on high for about a minute. If you plan on drinking this right away, you may want to blend at 20 second intervals so that the drink does not become warm. Also, if you are drinking the smoothie right away, you may want to use ice cubes instead of water.
This will make two pints of smoothie. I store mine in mason jars. One of these days I will get around to taking better pictures.
This is by far the best smoothie I have made yet. I love this flavor. Getting the ingredients from the local farmers market more than likely played a huge factor in the flavor, so I will be getting my ingredients there as often as possible.
