Recipes for Green Smoothies – Tomato, Dill & Spinach

I am going to preface this blog post by saying this is one of the best green smoothies I have made yet. Most of my recipes for green smoothies tend to be more fruit based, but recently I have been making more vegetable based smoothies.

The market has these tasty looking orange cherry tomatoes, so I picked a package of those up. Here are the rest of the ingredients:

  • Orange cherry tomatoes
  • 6 carrots (these were organic carrots, and they were really small and thin)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • a handfull of dill
  • a bunch of spinach
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar

I added the ingredients in that exact order. I filled whatever space was left in my Vitamix blender with spinach. I’d say about half the blender was filled with spinach. Then I added some water, which I filled the blender half way with.

I really like this green smoothie! It has just enough garlic to add depth of flavor without being overpowering. The dash of salt and the balsamic vinegar also add to the depth of flavor, while giving the green smoothie an extra zing. Try this one, I hope you like it!

Today the Irvington Farmer’s Market is in town. I will be picking of some seasonal ingredients for some fall inspired smoothies.

I couldn’t make any of these recipes for green smoothies without my Vitamix blender. This blender has changed my life.

Hey Erin – glad you liked it! I love adding avocados to the vegetable smoothies, and red pepper also. Sometimes I will even throw a whole (seeded) Jalapeno in there if I feeling especially spicy!
