Recipes for Green Smoothies: Starfruit, Kiwi and Kale!

One of the reasons I love shopping at Fairway Market is because they have helped expose me to some produce that I would never be able to access otherwise.

A month ago I saw they had some star fruits. I decided to pick one up, and I really enjoyed it! I am a big fan of tropical fruits.

I made a trip there yesterday only to see they had starfruit back in stock. The wheels started turning, so I picked up some lacinto kale, 2 kiwis, 2 star fruits, and some bananas.I got home, and threw all the ingredients into the Vitamix and made two mason jars full of tropical green smoothie goodness!

Ingredients:

  • Half a bunch of lacinto kale (I did not use the stems, just the leaves)
  • 2 star fruits
  • 2 kiwis (peeled)
  • one banana
  • filtered water

Nothing complicated here – just throw it all into the Vitamix, blend on low and work your way to high.

This green smoothie recipe was pretty good. It was a nice change of pace from the types of green smoothies I have been making lately. If I could do it all over again, I would probably wait a few days before making the smoothie. I think the star fruits were not as ripe as they could have been.

I couldn’t make any of these recipes for green smoothies without my Vitamix blender. This blender has changed my life.
